Stainless Steel FAQ
|
|
|
---|---|---|
Cooking with Stainless SteelLe Creuset Tri-Ply Stainless Steel cookware features a commercial grade triple-layer construction – a full aluminum core sandwiched between two layers of premium-quality stainless steel. The heat-responsive aluminum core extends up the sides of the pan to provide even heat distribution and to eliminate scorching and hot spots. |
Heat RecommendationsUncoated cookware is oven-proof to 500°F / 260°C. It can be used in all types of conventional ovens, and fry pans may be used under the broiler. |
General Cleaning and CareAlways cool a hot pan completely before washing. Remember to dry it thoroughly before storing. Never plunge a hot pan into cold water. While the Le Creuset Stainless Steel is designed to be durable, thermal shock can still occur and may result in a warped base. |

By that I mean it makes cooking so much easier. A wire whisk or a wooden or any spoon will clean the sides very well as you stir. Stirring while cooking is more effective because of the design.
Clean up is easier. Not sure why.
Worth every penny because you'll will grab this pan every time you cook.
The helper handle is really nice too.
Do yourself a favor and buy it for yourself and you'll find yourself throwing away your flimsy, lightweight pans forever.
I've been cooking for 50 years and this is the best cooking pan I've ever used.
Seems like I make a lot of marinara type sauces. I like adding the pasta to the sauce in the pan. The starch from the pasta thickens the sauce and the flavor soaks into the pasta as it finishes in the sauce. With this pan there is plenty of room for this method and the lid keeps the heat in while I tend to other things.
As with all stainless steel pans without a nonstick coating it requires fat and/or liquids to prevent sticking. So keep that in mind if you are not used to that.
I find clean up to be about the same as my other SS clad pans. I have All-Clad, Made In, Viking, and now Le Creuset. If I have something that is really stuck, I let it cool, add some water, heat on the cooktop, and give it a good scrape with a wooden spoon or bamboo scraper.
I highly recommend this pan and I plan on getting the smaller one as well.

I already knew how very well constructed and nice looking it would be, since I already owned the smaller 1,9 L version by Le Creuset (which Amazon does not list); I use it amongst other things to make hollandaise sauce directly on very low heat, not bothering with a double boiler, and it never curdles or sticks. I also have not had any sticking problems with the bigger version, even with syrupy or thick mixtures. I look forward to summer and using it for making jams or fresh fruit compotes.
I don't think it is as ideally suited for braising, making soup or cooking pasta for example, but it certainly is one of the best pans I have ever used and more versatile than one might think at first: it is for much more than just sauces.
Cookware of distinction and without peer.
If I were 50 years younger, I wouldn't even
bother acquiring anything other than Le Creuset cookware,
I would have bought a whole set.
The design and implementation alone are worth the expense.
This is serious cookware. If I ever burn anything again,
it won't be LE CREUSET's fault. Mea culpa.
I actually went over to the Le Creuset Canada's website
and ... drooled. I've known about them for decades and
more, I never dreamt that, late in life, I'd actually own anything
of theirs. Or that they'd be teaching me a whole new way to
cook anything. Maybe appreciation comes with maturity.
My advice to the young cook is to INVEST in the best, and
look at it longterm: we do get what we pay for. It's impossible
to go wrong with LE CREUSET. It's not just hype which I am
innately suspicious of.
